Volunteer Opportunities

We need committed and dedicated people to help us care for orphaned and injured wildlife every year. From April to September is our busiest time. This is when the baby animals come into the center.

To volunteer directly with animals, you are required to attend an orientation session. These are generally held mid-February to mid-April.

New Volunteer Orientation Sessions! New Volunteer orientation sessions will be offered at 2:00 P.M. on the following dates: Sat., 8/23, and Sat., 8/30. Please register by calling our Office Manager, Kathleen, at 301-926-9453 between 9 and 5 Monday thru Friday or use our online orientation sign-up form.

If you have any health concerns such as asthma or other respiratory illnesses, allergies to animals, cleaning supplies or any immune diseases or back problems, we suggest you consider carefully whether this is an appropriate volunteer activity. If you have any questions about your health concerns, check with your physician.

If you still want to help and enjoy sewing or woodworking, we are in need of squirrel bags and nest boxes each year. These can be made in your home. Give us a call if you are interested for directions on how to make these items.

For volunteer positions and requirements check out our Volunteer Positions Page.

We accept college interns for the spring and summer months. Please check out our internship page for more information.
